Fill up on vitamins in winter

Colorful and tasty, fresh fruit and vegetable juices are full of vitamins, enzymes and minerals that are all very good for your health. Here are a few tips to help you get through the winter.

Make sure you choose your fruits and vegetables carefully

Some fruits stop ripening once they are picked (strawberries, raspberries, apricots and peaches, for example). So make sure you choose them at the right time. In general, you should choose firm, shiny fruit with green stems.
Also, be sure to protect your most fragile fruits and vegetables during transport. If you have the opportunity, choose fruits and vegetables stored in crates with compartments rather than those piled on top of each other. Similarly, prefer fruits sold in trays, they are much better protected from shocks.

Keep the vitamins in your juices

To preserve the vitamins and flavors of your fruit, it is best to blend them just before eating. You can enjoy them on their own, simply cut into small pieces or by adding crushed ice, yogurt, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, coconut, soy or rice milk or simply water. Multiply your enjoyment of freshly made juices by adding a few spices that will add even more flavor and reveal new flavors.
